Q: What is the difference between a Service Dog, Therapy Dog and ESA (Emotional Support Animal)?
A:
Service Dogs- Are individually trained specialized tasks to assist someone with a medical condition or disability
Therapy Dogs - Provide comfort, affection and support to people through an organized volunteer program (such as St.John Ambulance Therapy Dogs) in stressful or emotional settings such as hospitals, long term care homes, schools, etc.
Emotional Support Dogs - Provide comfort and security to people at home but does not have any specialized training or tasks
